ASEAN Ministers on Energy and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan discuss effective collaboration in energy sector

The Special Meeting of ASEAN Ministers on Energy and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan – SPECIAL AMEM-METI) was virtually held yesterday and Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Aung Than Oo joined the meeting.
The ASEAN Ministers on Energy, the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and the Secretary-General of ASEAN were also in attendance. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam.
The leaders discussed stipulation of regional energy policy of ASEAN and Japan, current energy usage and appropriate measures to reduce carbon emission.
Moreover, the meeting exchanged views on ASEAN Plan of Actions for Energy Cooperation-APAEC Phase II, 2021-2025, technologies like Clean Coal Technology (CCT) to be conducted between Japan and ASEAN, Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS), hydrogen, energy-saving and effective use of energy, acceleration of renewable energy deployment, development of human resource capacity and further collaboration for Green Energy sector. — MNA
