ASEAN, New Zealand discuss strengthening ties, future plans

Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to ASEAN U Aung Myo Myint attended the 12th ASEAN-New Zealand Joint Cooperation Committee meeting at the ASEAN Secretariat on 15 May, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Permanent Representative of Brunei Darussalam to ASEAN, Ambassador Latifah Zaini, and Ambassador of New Zealand to ASEAN, Stuart Calman, jointly presided over the meeting.
At the meeting, attendees discussed enhancing cooperation through continued implementation of the ASEAN-New Zealand Plan of Action (2021-2025), adopting a new Plan of Action (2026-2030), and strengthening trade and economic ties through the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
Myanmar’s permanent representative presented developments of the IAI Workplan IV as the chair of the IAI Task Force. Dato’ Astanah Abdul Aziz, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Political-Security Community, was also present. Timor-Leste attended it as an observer. — ASH/NT
