Asian Cup U-23 Qualifiers: Myanmar to play decisive match against Viet Nam today

LOCAL NEWS

Myanmar team will play against Viet Nam for a decisive 2022 Asian Cup U-23 Qualifiers in Kyrgyzstan on 2 November.
The match will start at 4:30 pm (Myanmar Standard Time).
There are only three teams in Group I and Myanmar and Viet Nam will fight for the next stage.
Both teams beat Chinese Taipei 1-0 and goal differences and points garnered are the same.
The winner of this match will be the first-placed team to win the group stage, but in the event of a draw, a penalty will be awarded for first place in the group.
Even if the Myanmar team play for a draw, it is almost certain to win the tournament and will have to wait and see if other teams win the tourney.
According to the format of the tournament, a total of 15 teams including the top 11 teams from 11 groups and the top four runners-up will advance to the next stage.
Some teams including Malaysia have already advanced to the next stage.
Another top-seeded team from Group I has yet to emerge, and the top four runners-up will be confirmed by 2 November.
Currently, the best runners-up: Thailand and Turkmenistan, are almost certain to win the tournament, while Myanmar is in third place.
Therefore, if the Myanmar team can get at least one point in today’s match, it will be almost certain to win the group stage.
If Myanmar loses, the team will have to watch out for other teams, and only a goalless draw will promote the chances for team Myanmar. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
