The basic education students’ sports festival for the 2022-2023 academic year, awarding ceremony, closing ceremony and dinner were held on 27 January at Social Zone of Nay Pyi Taw Sports Training Camp.
Union Minister for Education Dr Nyunt Pe, Deputy Ministers U Zaw Win and Dr Zaw Myint, Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Myo Hlaing, the deputy permanent secretaries and officials, coaches of respective sports teams from various states and regions and young athletes (students) attended the event.
Deputy Minister for Education U Zaw Win first honoured the winning medals and records that students from states and regions won. He elaborated that swimming, table tennis, badminton and basketball tournaments will also be added in the upcoming 2023-2024 academic year basic education students’ sports festival.
Then, on behalf of SAC Chair Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Union Minister Dr Nyunt Pe awarded K5 million each to the sports teams from states and regions that participated in the students’ sports festival.
Next, the Union Minister and the deputy ministers presented awards to winners of the Sepak Takraw, Women’s and Men’s Volleyball and Women’s Football tournaments, respectively.
After closing the festival, the Union minister and attendees enjoyed a celebratory dinner together while young athletes from states and regions performed dances. —MNA/KZL
