Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Chen Hai led the officials of the embassy on 4 April to pay tribute to the those from the Chinese Remote Alliance Army (CRAA) who died while reinforcing in Myanmar in the Second World War in Toungoo, Bago Region.
The Myanmar-China Business Association, generations of the Chinese Remote Alliance Army in Myanmar, representatives of Chinese descent and Chinese media based in Myanmar also attended the ceremony. A historic battle between the CRAA and the Japanese army broke out in Toungoo. The Chinese ambassador reflected on the sacrifices of Chinese soldiers who fought against the fascism 82 years ago, emphasizing the historic bond between Myanmar and China and the ongoing efforts to rekindle the Chinese national spirit.
The attendees paid their respects and laid flowers at the memorial monument of the CRAA, where they observed the museum showcasing the defence against the Japanese army.
Similarly, upon the request of the Chinese Embassy and Consulate in Myanmar, Chinese business people and local Chinese associations placed flowers and wreaths at memorial sites for the CRAA in Yenangyoung and Myitkyina townships. — TWA/NT
