Confiscation of illegal goods: Timbers, foodstuffs, consumer goods, industrial materials, motorbikes and vehicles

The on-duty teams under the Customs Department impounded a Toyota Regius delivery van (approximately K21 million) carrying 1,560 boxes of Chaokoh coconut cream (worth K3.12 million) without official documents travelling from Hpa-an to Bago and a Nidi truck (approximately K28 million) carrying two kinds of goods (worth K4.95 million) including 1,000 pairs of Adwalk child footwear slipper heading to Yangon from Myawady at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint, four kinds of goods (worth K16,187,800) including 104 iron rat trap cages from a container at the MITT port and 11 kinds of goods (worth K11,509,164) including a pneumatic cylinder, two kinds of goods (worth K1,645,264) including a connecting rod and two kinds of goods (worth K3,095,392) including four notchers that exceeded the 61 days of VPA at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk) on 22 June. The action was conducted in accordance with Customs procedures.
Similarly, the Myawady District Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force intercepted a Toyota HiAce car (approximately K15 million) carrying 1,000 kilogrammes of shrimp (worth K5 million) without official documents near Thingannyinaung village over the Myawady Trade Zone. The operation was conducted in adherence to Customs procedures.
Additionally, an unregistered Toyota Succeed car (estimated value of K3.5 million) was captured at the corner of Yazadirit Road and Kyansittha Road in Dagon Myothit (East) Township on 22 June. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
The combined teams seized an unregistered Toyota Kluger car (estimated value K10 million) at the combined checkpoint in Shwebo township and an unregistered Yandand 125 motorbike (approximately K300,000) in Htigyaing township on 23 June. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
A total of 6.207 tonnes of illegal timbers (worth K1,803,882) was captured in Toungoo district and an unregistered Hijet car (estimated value of K4.5 million) was nabbed near Pyinpongyi Tollgate at 52/0 Milepost on Yangon-Mandalay Road in Bago township on 24 June. The action was taken under the Forest Law and Export and Import Law.
As a result, a total of 15 arrests were made on three consecutive days from 22 to 24 June, with an estimated value of K129,611,502, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
