Confiscation of illegal items: Timbers, foodstuffs, industrial materials and vehicles

During inspections conducted on 23 and 24 April, combined teams overseen by the Yangon Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force seized various illicit items across different townships.
In Hlegu and Taikkyi townships, the teams confiscated illegal timbers weighing 18.883 tonnes valued at K1.866 million. In South Okkalapa township, two unregistered Toyota Mark II (estimated value of K6.5 million) were apprehended. Similarly, an unregistered Toyota Noah (estimated value of K4 million) was seized in Dagon Myothit (East) township. Additionally, a MAN tractor head with a trailer, transporting 14,000 kilogrammes of GI pipes from China worth K20.608 million without official documents at the Ywathagyi Dry Port, was intercepted while en route from Mandalay to Yangon. Enforcement action was carried out under the Forest Law, the Export and Import Law, and Customs procedures.
On 24 April, a Yutong bus (valued at K40 million) travelling from Thamanya to Yangon was intercepted at the Thanlwin bridge checkpoint (Tayokhla side). It was found to be carrying nine types of goods worth K18.442 million, including 1,494 boxes of Wai Wai Quick dried noodles from Thailand without official documents. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
In the industrial ward of Monywa on the same day, combined inspection teams seized 4.189 tonnes of illegal timbers valued at K5.53 million under the Forest Law.
Furthermore, combined inspection teams under the Yangon Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force confiscated 7.22 tonnes of illegal timbers valued at K672,820 in Lewe and Ottarathiri Districts under the Forest Law.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that 23 arrests were made on 23 and 24 April, with an estimated total value of K177.619 million. — MNA/MKKS
