Confiscation of illegal items; timbers, consumer goods, industrial materials and vehicles

The Nay Pyi Taw Council’s Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force seized 16.294 tonnes of illegal teak, valued at K10.754 million, in Tatkon township on 16 February. This action was taken under the Forest Law.
Supervised by the Shan State Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force, combined teams conducted inspections on 18 February and confiscated nine types of goods, worth K7.22 million, including 190 colourful stone bead necklaces (suspected to be jade) from a vehicle parked near Sinphyu market in Muse township. This action was conducted under Customs procedures.
On the same day, a Hino Profia truck (approximately valued at K25 million), travelling from Myawady to Yangon, was intercepted at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint. It was found to be carrying 4,500 kilogrammes of Ivory Art Card, valued at K8.1 million. This action was also conducted under Customs procedures.
According to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, four arrests were made on 16 and 18 February, with an estimated value of K51.074 million. — MNA/MKKS
