The Ministry of Commerce is making efforts to ensure people have access to the essential medical supplies that are critical to the COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities, including liquid oxygen and oxygen cylinders, by arranging continuous importation through trading posts, international airport and seaports with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
On 14 October (yesterday), anti-COVID-19 equipment, medical products including oxygen plants and concentrators were imported by five companies using 12 vehicles.
A total of 75 tonnes of oxygen liquid carried by four bowsers, 1,800 empty oxygen cylinders, five oxygen plants, three oxygen generators, 155 oxygen concentrators for home use, 5,000 test kits, and 33 tonnes of gloves and 33 tonnes of masks were imported via Muse, Myawady and Chinshwehaw trading posts, seaports, and Yangon International Airport.
Out of four oxygen (liquid) bowsers vehicles, three were transported from Muse to Mandalay, one from Myawady to Yangon and five Oxygen Plants were also transported from the port to Yangon respectively.
Officials from the relevant departments are cooperating to facilitate and expedite the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including online registration for the import process.
