Department of Fisheries puts fingerlings into Jaing River, Kayin State

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation have been adding fish hatchlings into the water, rivers, creeks and lakes of the country annually for local fish consumption and resources. On 17 June, the Department of Fisheries, Kayin State added fish fingerlings into the Thanhlei river pumping station, Hpa-an District yesterday.
Kayin State Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo, Chief Justice of Kayin State High Court Daw Khin Swe Tun, the state cabinet ministers, officials and local people of Thanhlei village and nearby villages attended the fish-adding ceremony and released 50,000 Rohu fingerlings and 150,000 Swamp barb fingerlings, totalling 200,000 fingerlings into the Jaing River.
Afterwards, the chief minister and members discussed conditions of crop cultivation in irrigated area with Hpa-an District Administrator U Aung Lwin and officials who presented the status of the double-cropping and water distribution system that was included in the affected area of 802 acres. The chief minister gave instructions to facilitate the irrigated area for farmers to apply double-cropping and mixed-cropping and viewed the crop fields. — Saw Myo Min Thein(IPRD)/GNLM
