The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) has issued a notice that there may be untimely rain in some regions and states, including Yangon Region.
According to a statement released by the DMH, untimely rains may occur between 17 and 23 April due to the swift movement of whirlwinds from the west, the eastward motion of clouds, and the vigorous formation of thermal clouds.
Until 9:30 am on 19 April, according to weather gauges, in the past 24 hours, there were scattered thundershowers in Chin State, Nay Pyi Taw, upper Sagaing Region, Kachin State and Shan State, and scattered thundershowers in lower Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, and Bago Region.
DMH has informed the public to be aware of weather phenomena such as untimely rain, thunder, lightning, hail, and strong winds in areas with convective cloud formation.
In addition, there will be scattered thundershowers in upper Sagaing Region, Kachin State and Shan State (North and East) and in Nay Pyi Taw, lower Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Bago Region, Yangon Region, Shan State (South), Chin State, Rakhine State and Mon State in the next two days.
The announcement further stated that moderate convective cloud formation will occur in the rest of the regions and states. — TWA/TKO
