Domestic investments top K1,171 bln in FY2020-2021

Investments by Myanmar citizens in the country stood at K1,171 billion in the financial year 2020-2021 (October-September), according to data released by the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA).
In the FY2020-2021, the domestic investors pumped K1,171 billion into 17 projects permitted by the Myanmar Investment Commission and into 44 projects endorsed by the state and region investment committees, as per the DICA’s data.
The manufacturing sector attracted the majority of domestic investments. The domestic investments also flowed into the hotels and tourism sector and other services sector, the livestock and fisheries, the real estate development sector, the transport and communications sector, the power and agriculture sectors.
The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations has been inviting responsible businesses to benefit the country.
MIC ensures to approve the responsible businesses by assessing environmental and social impacts. The commission is working together with the relevant departments to screen the projects. — KK/GNLM
