DRD initiates gravity flow system with treatment plant and water pipeline network project in hilly region

Gravity flow system with treatment plant and pipeline network will be launched in mountainous regions in 2024, according to the Department of Rural Development.
There are 23,783 villages in Shan State, and the project will be implemented in Kyauktaw Village in Yaksawk Township, Konechanhtet Village in Nyaungshwe Township, and Sintaung Village in Loilem Township. The project will provide clean drinking water for the village at any time. To prevent the spring water from drying up, the residents must not clear and burn the forest trees and preserve the spring water for the long term.
The project will be implemented with the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund, and the state government will also provide support. The purpose of providing clean drinking water to all rural residents of Myanmar was drafted in 2017 and approved in 2030.
According to the Department of Rural Development, the project will be carried out in collaboration with relevant departments and organizations. — TWA/CT
