The Myanmar Police Force released a statement that a police officer from Mahaaungmye township police station was abducted and set on fire by about 200 rioters while he was riding a motorbike to deliver documents to the Department of Prisons on Kannar Road on 29 March 2021.
During the investigation of the case, Nyein Min Thu (a) Kyaw Mae, son of U Myint Soe, who lives in Thayattapin village, Patheingyi Township, was arrested on 31 March. According to the investigation, he confessed to stabbing the victim to death after about 100 people including him had taken the money and ring and beaten the victim and burnt him with tires and chairs.
According to further investigation, it was identified that a group of people including Arrgyi, 35; Yan Shin, 25; Sithu Aung, 30; who live in the north of Thayatpin, Pwa Gyi, 45; (brother of Pwa Gyi) Than Tun Oo, 40; who live in Mintae Eekin, and Khwaygyi (a) Nga Sine, 25, in Ye Htut village in Thayat Tapin tract; Nga Ye (a) Ye Zaw, 22 and Bayluwa (a) Baygyi, 19, killed the police officer.
It is reported that the arrest of those who brutally killed the police officer is underway.—MNA
