Myanmar Embassy in Tokyo has issued a timely announcement for Myanmar nationals living in Japan to contact in the event of natural disasters.

Following a 7.2 magnitude earthquake with its epicentre in Taiwan at 9:04 am local time on 3 April, tsunami warnings were issued along the coast of Okinawa Island.

Myanmar nationals in the area were advised to pay close attention to timely announcements by local authorities, and links to Japanese weather agencies and news outlets were provided on the Facebook page of the embassy.

Hot line number of the embassy to contact for disasters is 070-4413-7383, it said.

“Japan has issued tsunami warnings for Okinawa, but there has been no major incident. We have to be careful and avoid it. We are safe. Myanmar Embassy has made the announcements in time. We also have contact numbers of the Embassy. As they announced in time, we could ask for help in case. Myanmar Embassy is always active and they post regularly,” a Myanmar national in Japan told the Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM).
