EV cars that will run as taxis in Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon must be registered as City Taxis, according to Yangon Region Public Transport Committee-YRTC.
Companies that have permission to import battery electric vehicles (EVs) must use them for public transport. Effective from the beginning of this year, about 100 EV cars and EV chargers to be used in charging stations in Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon have arrived. On 23 February, five 7 kW GB AC household chargers also arrived.
At present, there are more than 3,000 cars newly registered as City Taxis, and around 300 cars are being registered every day. There are more than 60,000 vehicles previously registered City Taxis in Yangon Region, according to the YRTC. — TWA/KZW
