First working committee meeting of Thai-Myanmar police chief level on cooperation in combatting transnational crimes held in Bangkok

Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Chief of Myanmar Police Force Maj-Gen Zin Min Htet attended the first working committee meeting of the two countries’ police chief level on cooperation in combatting transnational crimes between the Myanmar Police Force and the Royal Thai Police Force in Bangkok on 7 June.
The Myanmar delegation arrived at Bangkok Police Centre on 6 June and the Centre in charge explained the security affairs and monitoring system for traffic jams in Bangkok and the Deputy Minister gave presents.
At noon, the deputy minister and party visited the Royal Thai Police Academy and were welcomed by the academy principal with the Guard of Honour of the Royal Thai Police.
Myanmar delegation led by Police Brig-Gen Aung Htay Myint joined the pre-coordination meeting of a high-level meeting with top police officials held at Anantara Siam Hotel on 6 June evening. During the meeting, the officials discussed the prevention of cross-border crimes and transnational crimes and proper systems to exchange information, capacity-strengthening cooperation and MoU for the cooperation of two countries’ police forces.
In the evening, Senator Police General (Retired) Tritot Ronnaritivichai, Police General (Retired) Thammasak Vicharaya, Police General and the Royal Thai Police delegation called on the MoHA Deputy Minister Chief of Police Force and discussed bilateral cooperation with the Myanmar Police Force.
On 7 June, the first working committee meeting of the two countries’ police chief level on cooperation in combatting transnational crimes between the Myanmar Police Force and the Royal Thai Police Force was held.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister discussed border area security and the rule of law, eradication of terrorist acts, drugs, human trafficking, cyber-crimes, promotion of bilateral relations for border areas in the fight against transnational smuggling and cooperation works of two countries’ police forces to uncover the armed groups and terrorists who are hiding in Myanmar-Thai border areas.
Then, the Deputy Minister and Suwat Jangyodsuk, Police General of the Royal Thai Police signed in the first working committee meeting record and exchanged the gifts. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the cooperation works of the two countries’ police, especially for arms and ammunition smuggling, transnational crimes, protection of lives and prosperity of people living in border areas, human resource development, training courses for police and MoU between two police forces and also signed six agreements for further cooperation works. — MNA
