Green gram growers expect higher prices in harvest season

The local residents from Pyawbwe township are growing paddy, bamboo, sesame, corn and variety of pluses. The green gram growers expect to fetch better prices in this year’s green gram harvesting season.
A local farmer in the name of U Aung Win from Khin Gyi Ya village said that we have grown one acre of green gram and corn to feed the animal as mixed crops.  The local farmers have to buy the green gram seeds for K 3,500 per basket.  Each acre of farmland has to use about four baskets of green gram seeds.  The three-month old plants could start harvesting. The fertilizer and pesticide need to be sprayed onto the plants when it is necessary.  The green gram plants can be harvested about 30 baskets per acre in good weather condition.
When the green gram started harvesting, those were sold back in the breakage in the city. The prevailing price of green gram is K 38,000 per basket. The green gram growers expect to have better price in this harvesting season as well as good rainfall.—Min Min Htwe (IPRD)/ GNLM
