U Myint Naing, a member of the Heritage Trust Team (Bagan), has reported ongoing maintenance efforts for eight ancient pagodas within the cultural heritage area of Bagan. Collaborating with the Department of Archaeology and National Museum (Bagan Branch), the Bagan Heritage Trust Team has taken measures such as weed suppression through spraying, repairing mortar cracks, sealing openings vulnerable to bird entry, and installing security screens.
Emphasizing their focus on weed control within the compounds of eight pagodas in Taungbi and Bagan Myothit, U Myint Naing said the repair work started at the beginning of December. The commitment to preserving ancient pagodas will persist through continued collaboration with the Department of Archaeology and National Museum.
The maintenance efforts for ancient pagodas and old religious structures in the cultural heritage area involve joint initiatives by the Department of Archaeology and National Museum and contributions from the Heritage Trust Team (Bagan), supported by domestic and international donors. — ASH / TRKM
