SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
A combined on-duty team under the instructions of the Customs Department conducted inspections at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint in Mon State on 17 September.
Officials confiscated K1,890,000 worth of animal feed without any declaration in the Import Declaration (ID) from a Nissan Diesel 12-wheel truck (approximately K40 million) heading from Myawady to Yangon. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
In addition, a team led by the Customs Department under the supervision of the Shan State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force made unexpected inspections on the Tahley-Parshoe-Kenglek Road in Tachilek township. They nabbed K2,830,000 worth of consumer goods not taxed yet in the Khamkun market near Parshoe village. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Afterwards, on 18 and 19 September, a combined team led by the Bago Region Forest Department captured a total of 24.9750 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K11,141,994 in Toungoo, Nyaunglebin and Thayawady districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
On 19 September, a combined on-duty team under the supervision of the Kayin State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted inspections at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint. They seized K1,950,000 worth of rice cookers that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Therefore, seven arrests (approximately K57,811,994) were made on three consecutive days from 17 to 19 September, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
