Illegal timbers, consumer goods, cosmetics, foodstuffs, raw jade and fuel oil seized

SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
The On-duty Combined Inspection Team conducted inspections at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Checkpoint of Kayin State on 8 June.
They seized K3,600,000 worth of steel water taps that were not mentioned in the Import Declaration from a truck heading from Myawady to Mandalay. The action was taken under the Customs Law.
Similarly, on 9 June, an inspection team led by the Myanmar Police Force seized K3,685,000 worth of 291 kilogrammes of various pieces of raw jade stones from a vehicle heading from Lonkhin village to Myitkyina township, under the supervision of the Kachin State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force and action was taken under the Myanmar Gemstone Law.
Moreover, on the same day, a team led by the General Administration Department made inspections and confiscated illegal consumer goods, cosmetics and foodstuffs (approximately K4,870,000) in Sagaing township.
Afterwards, a team led by the Myanmar Police Force seized 9,600 gallons of illegal fuel oil at an estimated value of K57,600,000 in Shwebo township. The action was taken under the Myanmar Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law.
Therefore, five arrests (approximately K69,755,00) were made on 8 and 9 June, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
