On 30 October, a combined team under the supervision of the Kayin State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted surprise inspections.
Officials nabbed four kinds of goods including 720 litres of edible oil (Two Shrimps brand) without official documents worth K8,443,200 from a Toyota HiAce (estimated value of K13 million) near Thingan Nyinaung village, 8,640 litres of edible oil and 280 cartons of Lipo juice in Myawady township and 6,000 kilogrammes of high-density polyethene without official documents worth K10,080,000 at the OSS Myawady Trade Zone. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
In addition, an on-duty team made inspections at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint. They seized 60 rolls of linoleum flooring worth K1.8 million without official documents from a vehicle on 30 October and K4,054,000 worth of foodstuffs without official documents from a Toyota HiAce (estimated value of K15 million) heading from Myawady to Yangon on 31 October. Afterwards, on 31 October, a combined team confiscated K11,496,000 worth of fishing materials and other consumer goods without official documents from a vehicle heading from Myeik to Mawlamyine at the Mahlwaltaung Combined Checkpoint of Dawei district. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, officials captured a total of 18.5028 tonnes of illegal teak and hardwood in the Toungoo and Nyaunglebin districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, 19 arrests (approximately K96,154,446) were made on 30 and 31 October, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
