SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
Under the instructions of the Chairman of the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force, an on-duty team made inspections at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint on 4 July, according to information.
Officials confiscated K27,150,000 worth of car parts that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a 22-wheel truck (approximately K80 million) heading from Myawady to Yangon. The action was filed under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, a combined team made inspections on vehicles heading from Hpa-an township to Mawlamyine at the Attaran Bridge (side of the Industrial Zone) of Mawlamyine township under the Mon State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force on 6 July.
They captured various fruits and foodstuffs worth K4,167,900 and restricted 5,950 kilogrammes of chemical – ammonium nitrate – worth K10,710,000 that were imported with duty free and without any official documents from a Honda Odyssey car (approximately K20 million), a Nissan Caravan car (approximately K25 million) and a Toyota HiAce car (approximately K25 million).
In addition, on the same day, a total of 1.5946 tonnes of illegal teak worth K1,052,436 were captured near the Lotus Tollgate on the Thaton-Hpa-an Road.
Afterwards, on 7 July, an unregistered motorbike (approximately K150,000) was confiscated in Shwebo township and four unregistered motorbikes (approximately K1 million) were captured in Khamti township. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
In addition, a team led by the Forest Department conducted inspections under the Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force.
Officials captured a total of 48.3982 tonnes of illegal teak, hardwood and other timbers worth K26,986,654 in the Bago, Pyay and Thayawady districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law. Therefore, 25 arrests estimated at K221,216,990 were made on 4, 6 and 7 July, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
