Illegal timbers, foodstuffs, consumer goods, industrial materials and vehicles confiscated

A combined team under the supervision of Mon State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force impounded a Toyota HiAce (approximately worth K15 million) carrying 8,500 bottles of GSD energy drink worth K7 million without official documents near the Sangyi traffic light on the circular road of Mawlamyine University on 15 September. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
The Customs on-duty teams conducted inspections on 15 September and nabbed 135 Verage suitcases worth K4,252,500 that exceeded the quantity mentioned in the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Myanmar Industrial Port Terminal container checkpoint, 19,000 kilogrammes of HDPE plastic sheets worth K42.294 million that exceeded the quantity mentioned in the ID from two containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint, 1.096 kilogrammes of spare parts of SIDEL compressor worth K1,131,094 that were different from ID from luggage at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk) and an Isuzu Giga tractor head with a trailer and a Mitsubishi Fuso truck (approximately K70 million), headed to Yangon from Myawady, carrying two kinds of goods worth K9.826 million, including 600 steel food carriers (Golden Bodhi) and 5,200 kilogrammes of blankets that were not declared in the ID, at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
The combined teams confiscated an Isuzu truck (estimated value of K30 million), travelling from Myawady to Yangon, carrying three kinds of goods worth K8.715 million, including 48,000 grammes of coffee cookies (Siam Foods) that were not declared in the ID, near Shwethanlwin Tollgate in Phayagyi and a total of 1.046 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K523,200 in Toungoo district on 16 September. The action was taken under Customs procedures and the Forest Law.
A total of 12 arrests were made on 15 and 16 September with an estimated value of K188,741,794, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/ MKKS
