Illegal timbers, foodstuffs, fuel oil and vehicles confiscated

The combined team under the Yangon Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force confiscated 3.624 tonnes of illegal teak and 5.641 tonnes of other illegal timbers worth K5.793 million in Htaukkyant township and a Toyota Voxy vehicle (estimated value of K25 million) carrying 1.32 tonnes of illegal teak worth K871,728 in Hlegu township on 17 December. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
On 19 December, a joint team supervised by the Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force captured three kinds of goods valued at K6.97 million, including 624 boxes of Oishi green tea and 4,000 kilogrammes of chicken sausages, from a Mitsubishi canter travelling from Taunggyi to Mandalay. The action was conducted under Customs procedures.
A combined team confiscated 1,680 gallons of illegal diesel (informal diesel) worth K17.01 million in Monywa township on 20 December. The action was conducted under the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law.
Six arrests were made on 17, 19 and 20 December, with an estimated value of K75.645 million, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
