Illegal timbers, fuel, machinery and unregistered motorbikes confiscated

SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
A combined team under the instructions of the Magway Region Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force conducted inspections on 18 August.
Officials nabbed an unregistered Odyssey car (approximately K2.5 million) near Phonedawpyae village in Natmauk township and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law. Similarly, officials captured 35 gallons of illegal fuel oil worth K1,347,500 and the action was taken under the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law. In addition, a total of 1.6528 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K115,696 were confiscated in Field No 10 of the East Yoma forest reserve of Sinbaungwe township and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Afterwards, a team under the supervision of the Taninthayi Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force carried out inspections on 19 August.
They seized three unregistered motorbikes (approximately K2.6 million) in Thayetchaung, Myeik and Bokpyin townships. The action was taken under the Export and Import Laws. In addition, an unregistered machinery (approximately K150 million) was captured at the Mahlwaltaung Checkpoint of Yephyu township and the action was taken under the Vehicle Safety and Vehicle Management Law.
Similarly, a team led by the Myanmar Police Force made inspections under the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force and nabbed an unregistered Kanda motorbike (approximately K150,000) in Homalin township. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
On 20 August, an inspection team led by the Bago Region Forest Department confiscated a total of 2.0200 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K406,880 in the Yoma protected forest in Yedashe township and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, eight arrests (approximately K157,120,076) were made on three consecutive days from 18 to 20 August, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
