With regard to the increasing fines for prohibited goods at the Korean airport, EPS Centre in Myanmar has issued a report urging E-9 Myanmar workers not to bring prohibited items.

The EPS Centre in Myanmar recently announced that E-9 Myanmar workers are advised not to bring prohibited items since the fine has been increased from 100,000 won to 5 million won if authorities find prohibited agricultural produce and food products by workers at Korean airports.

HRDK (Myanmar EPS Centre) and POEA (Labour Transport Department) have been reminding E-9 workers who will go to work in Korea every week during the pre-job training that “the luggage brought by the Korean immigration officials will be checked again (whether or not they are bringing prohibited items) at once the workers arrive at Incheon Airport.”

The press release stated that despite repeated warnings, the import of prohibited agricultural produce and food products at the Korean airport is detected every week.—TWA/TKO
