Kachin State Chief Minister conducts field study in IDP camps

The Kachin State government provides assistance to the households residing in temporary shelters of different religious groups, and Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan conducted field study tours to ensure safe shelter conditions before the monsoon for the displaced persons in Waingmaw township yesterday.
During the tour, the chief minister met with the temporarily displaced persons at Nwangchaing Baptist Church together with the relevant officials.
He highlighted the assistance of the state government and pledged to provide the displaced persons with safe shelters as quickly as possible, encouraging the religious groups to work together.
The in charge of temporary camps then reported on the difficulties on behalf of 1,430 people of 348 households sheltering at BEHS (Nawngchaing), KBC compound, Shwenyaungpin Park, Lhaovo Baptist Church and their relatives.
The chief minister gave proper instructions and provided foodstuffs to the households.
He also inspected the construction of housing and access to water for the families sheltering in the RC compound in Makhawyan village of Maingna village tract and gave proper instructions.
He proceeded to the Maingna KBC temporary camp and met the personnel in charge of the camp to discuss housing maintenance, the rice distribution system and healthcare services.
At noon, he organized a coordination meeting to ensure the safety and shelter conditions of the displaced persons before the monsoon season with the members of a state-level committee on resettlement and closure of IDP camps at the state government office.
During the meeting, he called on the attendees to work together with the religious groups and governmental departments to ensure adequate foodstuffs and safe shelters for the displaced persons.
The attendees then reported on the resettlement of displaced persons, closure of IDP camps, and situations of displaced persons in Myitkyina, Waingmaw and Bhamo townships.
