Kayin State Chief Minister donates foodstuffs to IDPs in Myinegyingu

Kayin State Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo warmly greets internally displaced persons in the Myinegyingu area yesterday.

On 7 March, Kayin State Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo, along with cabinet members and departmental personnel, visited internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Myinegyingu area. They provided essential food supplies, including rice and cooking oil, to 741 households, encompassing 4,037 individuals. During the visit, the chief minister emphasized the importance of maintaining personal and environmental hygiene, respecting established rules, and fostering unity among the displaced community.
The Kayin State government has demonstrated ongoing support for IDPs since 2021, with contributions exceeding 2,967 bags of rice, 2,116 visses of cooking oil, various legumes, and essential items like salt, spices, and vegetables. Additionally, the Disaster Management Department and other organizations have periodically provided rescue materials, clothing, and other necessities.
Apart from supporting displaced populations, the chief minister also focused on infrastructure development within the state. He inspected ongoing projects in Hlaingbwe Township, including road repairs and the construction of a 10-foot-wide box culvert connecting Thitsaayemyaing and Taungsun villages. He further observed the rehabilitation of a 335-foot-long lane from Thitsaayemyaing Village to the stone inscription field and oversaw the cleaning and repairs on a section of the Myinegyingu-Methawaw road. During these inspections, the Director of State Development Supervising Office, U Aung Htut, and his team provided updates on project progress to the chief minister.
Concluding his visit, the chief minister explored the recently designated Kyonhtaw waterfall area, a rising tourist destination within Kayin State. Accompanied by officials from the Kayin State Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, he discussed potential improvements and development strategies for the area to further enhance its tourism potential. — Saw Myo Min Thein (IPRD)/TMT
