The festival of Kyaikne mid-water pagoda, located in the sea about two miles from the beach in Ankhe and Wekalaung villages of Thanbyuzayat Township of Mon State, is held on 3rd Waning of Tazaungmon yearly.
“The Kyaikne mid-water festival is yearly held and it hosts many visitors. During the festival, the water level is low starting at 7 am and it emerges a natural stone road that is also called Natlan about 30 or 40 feet in width to the pagoda. The visitors can walk on that road to get to the pagoda and can also enjoy nice views. Due to the hospitality of local ethnic people and proper transport, the place can lure the visitors every year,” said a resident of Wekalaung Village.
During the days of the festival, locals provide the free boat ride to the pagoda starting from 4 am. The visitors walk on that natural stone road when they return. Moreover, the township red cross society members and village social welfare organization members offer refreshment and distribute drinking water bottles and other necessary things. —Aye Aye Mon (IPRD)/GNLM
