Lift tower, walkway soon to operate on a trial run at Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda

A lift tower is under construction at Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda in Minbu Township with the use of heavy machinery.

The construction of a lift tower and a walkway is nearly finished at Mann Shwesettaw Pagoda in Minbu Township and it is soon to run on a trial basis, U Than Lwin, project manager of Kyaw Thar Engineering Construction Group.
The project commenced on 29 June 2021 under Phases 1 and 2. The construction work is 95 per cent complete. Only painting, dismantling scaffolding and concrete work under Phase 1 are left to be done. The lift tower is slated to be operational in the second week of February, he added.
The installing of a lift under Phase 2 began on 16 January, with made-in Spain Orona elevator and parts. It is used 6-milimeter 14 elevator steel cables. The construction is to end this month. The lift tower will undergo trial run on 1-4 February, said U Thein Win Aung, assistant chief engineer, in charge of AGT Company.
The lift tower is 210 feet long, 119 feet high and 12 feet wide. The project is carried out under the allocated fund of K1.6 billion of the Pagoda. Up and down elevator cabins were purchased at K230 million and installing of lifts started on 23 January. This project will facilitate the elders, children, the persons with disabilities and devotees in their pilgrimage. The capacity of each cabin is 20 people.—Maung Maung (Minbu)/GNLM
