Longan fruit transactions rise in Mongywang

Longan farmers can get profits and earn better incomes from longan plantations.

The demand for longan fruits (Hnin Thee or Dragon’s eyes) reaches a high in Mongyawng Township of eastern Shan State.
The delicious longan fruits are marketable fruits at reasonable prices, so people prefer the fruits from Mongyawng Township. It gets K500 for two bunches of longans.
Although the production rate of the fruit is low this year, the transaction is good. It fetches higher prices than in previous years. The Mongyawng residents grow the fruits in their yard, garden and on the fences of their houses.
Sellers get prices depending on fruit sizes. The longans are transported to Tachilek and Kengtung townships via Tarlay and Mongphyat townships. Longan farmers can get profits and earn better incomes from longan plantations. —Sai Aung Zaw Lin/GNLM
