Magway govt opens shelters from heat

As temperatures rise in Magway Region, the regional government has provided shelters from heat for the public, according to Magway Region Social Affairs Minister U Myo Myint.

Magway, Minbu, and Chauk districts got their first shelters on 2 May. The regional government promised to establish more shelters in other districts.

U Myo Myint added: “Yinma Hall at the Magway University in Magway, the Panya Alinyaung Private School in Minbu, the eastern gate at Zeya Mingala Shweintaung Pagoda in Taungdwingyi, and the township Sasana Beikman in Kanma are the first ones. They will provide shaded spaces for the public”.

The shelters will be open daily from 8 am to 6 pm. Senior citizens will receive ferry services and meals. Healthcare personnel will be available on-site at the shelters.

 

Yinma Hall can accommodate up to 300 individuals, primarily comprising those over 75 and individuals with chronic illnesses. — ASH/NT
