Thirty-two cargo ships used the Ayeyawady River to convey goods from Mandalay port to Yangon, Bhamo, and other townships between 5 and 12 February, according to the Department of Marine Administration.

The transported goods include 5,488.19 tonnes of cement, 6,792.55 tonnes of millet, 1,845 tonnes of coal and 8,274.8 tonnes of sugar in total.

The Department of Marine Administration warned not to carry overloads and to be careful with the navigation signs on the banks and in the water for safe travel.

“Vessels need to pay special attention to the navigational signs erected on the water and on the shore to ensure safe navigation,” said an official from the Mandalay Region Marine Administration Department.—TWA /MKKS/TH
