MDY confiscates over K4 bln worth of stimulant tablets, heroin

Authorities in Mandalay Region confiscated over 1.6 million stimulant tablets and over 100 kilogrammes of heroin, valued at K4.945 billion.
Following a tip-off, a joint team, including members of the Anti-Drug Police Force, searched a warehouse at 139 (A), 52/53, Ward 9, Pyigyidagun Township on 8 January. During the search, Sar Oo and Mai Aik Kyin were found with 1.11 million stimulant tablets concealed in 9,240 soap containers and 92.4 kilogrammes of heroin.
After interrogations, Hla Thein was apprehended with 4.4 kilogrammes of heroin at his residence to the corner of 58 A Street and 115 Street in Kanthaya Ward, Chanmyathazi Township, on 9 January. Subsequently, officials seized 4.4 kilogrammes of heroin and 0.5 million stimulant tablets from the farm of Hein Latt and Ma Aye Aye Aung in Ward 3, Ohnchaw village, Patheingyi Township on 10 January. In total, 1.61 million stimulant tablets and 101.2 kilogrammes of heroin, valued at K4.945 billion, were confiscated.
Further investigations revealed that the seized stimulant pills and heroin were intended for transportation from Shan State to Mandalay and then to Kachin State.
Legal action have been initiated, and authorities are actively investigating and identifying individuals involved in this crime chain. — MNA/KZW
