Meeting held for compliance with rules and laws of relevant ministries and MEC in industrial registration

coordination meeting was held on 14 January in Yangon for compliance with the rules and laws promulgated by the Ministry of Industry and relevant ministries and the Myanmar Engineering Council in carrying out industrial registration activities.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister for Industry U Ko Ko Lwin presented procedures for industrial registration, industrial inspections, boiler inspection and electrical inspection; the situation of the State policy; the process of drafting the new Private Industry Law. The Director-General of the Industrial Supervision and Inspection Department discussed the steps to be taken in registering the industry.
The President of the Myanmar Engineer Council discussed the prohibited activities and permitted activities included in the provisions of the Council Rules, and the Joint Secretary of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry discussed the difficulties encountered in carrying out industrial activities, its efforts to spread modern technology, and the provision of necessary assistance to local private entrepreneurs.
The meeting also discussed matters related to the systematic development of local industries, the quality product production and environmental issues.
On the afternoon of 15 January, Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than, accompanied by Deputy Minister U Ko Ko Lwin and the Economic Minister of the Mon state government, visited No 22 Heavy Industry (Bilin) in Mon State. During the visit, the Union Minister said the Government is supporting development of agro-based industries, adding that arrangements must be made to sell high quality products at low prices, reduce waste in order to minimize production cost per unit, increase production activities, establish quality assurance systems to improve the quality of products, and conduct continuous market research in order to meet the needs of consumers in a timely manner.
While in Bilin, the Union Minister visited Distillery Factory (Bilin), and Sugar Mill (Bilin).—MNA
