Ministries despatch aid, relief materials to Rakhine State

Various kinds of relief and rehabilitation materials and equipment are seen being loaded onto the vessels to transport them to Rakhine State

For use in Rakhine state disaster relief operations, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, the Ministry of Electric Power, the Ministry of Energy, and the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement are loading aid and relief materials, including concrete lamp posts, towers, iron rods, electrical wires, timbers, tents, tarpaulin sheets, corrugated sheets, nails, communication fibre cables, rice bags, and dried noodles, on the MV Aquarius, MV Sun Shine, and MV Fortune starting 16 May, under the supervision of the Myanma Port Authority, as planned by the Disaster Management Centre (DMC).
The MV Aquarius left the port for Sittway yesterday afternoon, and the two remaining vessels are being loaded with aid and relief goods and equipment to expedite their departure to Sittway. — MNA/CT
