According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MoALI), the ministry has generated over K11.27 billion from selling grant lakes, based on the 2023 statistics.
Preservation of natural resources such as rivers, creeks, and lakes is crucial as they are part of our natural heritage and national resources.
On 3 April, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Dr Aung Gyi, urged fish producers and consumers to view the preservation of grant lakes as a national duty to prevent the extinction of fish resources.
Fish production is regulated in accordance with laws, rules, and regulations to protect the habitats of freshwater fish and their ecosystems.
Due to the gradual decrease in freshwater fish production, public collaboration is necessary to ensure sustainable production and consumption. — TWA/TMT
