MoC Union Minister addresses Indo-ASEAN business summit & expo

Union Minister for Commerce Dr Pwint San addressed the Indo-ASEAN Business Summit & Expo held through videoconferencing yesterday morning.
The Union Minister said ASEAN and India have been cooperating in economic and trade relations for a long time, and there is a deep relationship in trade, culture, and economy between the two parties. He added that India is the biggest trade partner not only for ASEAN but also for Myanmar. He said he believes that ASEAN-India economic cooperation will bring opportunities and success to the people of the region.
He said Myanmar will cooperate in the economy, technical assistance, training courses and conferences under ASEAN-India FTA, as well as with other nations for the development of the MSMEs sector.
As Myanmar is forming a remedial working committee on business that may be affected by COVID-19, Myanmar want to work together with partner counties for the regional economic development, he said.
He called on cooperation to increase trade and ease non-tariff barriers which is important for trade facilitation. He said he believes that the global economic challenges facing the COVID-19 pandemic will be solved through cooperation among the countries.
The Indo-ASEAN Business Summit & Expo was also attended by the Trade and Industry Minister of India, Trade Ministers from the ASEAN countries, the Chairman and the Director-General of the Confederation of India Industry (CII). – MNA
