MoEA opens Kachin state director office in Myitkyina

The opening ceremony of the new state director’s office of the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs was held yesterday morning in Myitkyina, Kachin State. The ceremony was attended by Members of the State Administration Council Jeng Phang Naw Taung, U Moung Har, U Sai Lone Hsai and U Shwe Kyein, and Union Minister Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, Union Minister U Khin Yi, Union Minister U Saw Tun Aung Myint, Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan, Commander of the Northern Command Brig-Gen Myat Thet Oo and officials.
After the opening ceremony, the SAC members and party observed books on ethnic literature and pamphlets, and the law books on ethnic rights displayed in the new office building. Afterwards, they met with members of the Kachin, Shan and Bamar ethnic literature and cultural associations at Manaw House inside the Manaw Ground in Myitkyina and provided cash assistance and souvenirs. Chairman of the Kachin Ethnic Traditional and Cultural Association U Lanu expressed words of thanks.
The SAC members and party, and the members of the ethnic associations had lunch together at Majwel Hall. Afterwards, they met staff and students of the No (1) and No (2) Border Area Ethnic Youth Development Training School, the Ministry of Border Affairs.

At the meeting, the Union Border Affairs Minister explained the situation of the training schools and the deputy director explained the training activities. SAC member Jeng Phang Naw Taung gave a keynote address and provided uniforms and stationery for staff and students.
Afterwards, they inspected the students exercising on the campus with fitness equipment, food situation at the dining hall, dormitories and the school library, and encouraged the students cordially.— MNA
