MoH Union Minister inspects general hospitals in Magway Region

Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win visits Magway General Hospital in Magway.

Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win inspected the general hospitals in Magway Region on 18 December.
The Union Minister first met with the Magway Region Chief Minister and officials of departments concerned, COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment committee members, the head of region Public Health/Medical Services departments, medical superintendents and township health officers.
During the meeting, the Magway Region Chief Minister reported on the current COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities.
Then, the Union Minister talked about the Omicron like extension of suspension period of international flight, RT-PCR tests and preparations for proper medical services if necessary.
He also said there are more than 19.5 million people who have received the first does and the government keeps conducting the vaccination programmes to ensure the coverage as the first dose can protect the disease to a certain extent. The government receives adequate COVID-19 vaccines and will get further amounts of vaccines. The country also cooperates with China to produce the vaccine locally.
He then stressed the needs to conduct educating programmes for the public and the plans to provide liquid oxygen to Magway Region.
He added that the postgraduate courses of medical university are now opened and the second MB, third MB and final year part-1 as follow-up courses will be conducted on 20 December.
Moreover, arrangements are also being made to open the regular classes of Medicine and Medical Related Universities in January 2022.
The regular courses of University of Community Health (Magway) will be also opened. It needs to strict the regulations to ensure the safety and peaceful learning of students including vaccination programmes.
Then, the Union Minister and party inspected the Japan-aided new building in Magway General Hospital compound and stressed the needs to run the treatment at that building.
They finally went to Minbu General Hospital and gave instructions regarding concurrent duty assignment of respective subjects by Professors at the University of Medicine (Magway), installation of new Oxygen Plant and promotions of nurses.—MNA
