MoH Union Minister meets GAVI-The Vaccine Alliance delegation

The GAVI The Vaccine Alliance delegation calls on MoH Union Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

Union Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win of the Ministry of Health received the delegation led by Managing Director Mr Thabani Maphosa of the GAVI-The Vaccine Alliance Office, based in Geneva, Switzerland, at the ministry’s reception hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
During the meeting, the Union minister said that the GAVI-the Vaccine Alliance, United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) need to cooperate closely with the Ministry of Health in Myanmar’s routine vaccination activities; the ministry will accept and welcome any kind of assistance without any strings attached, and the assistance will also be used effectively under the leadership of the Ministry of Health.
Managing Director Mr Thabani Maphosa of the GAVI-The Vaccine Alliance said that they will provide the vaccines for Covid-19 disease that only need to be injected once to be used for remote areas, and continue to supply the vaccines needed in Myanmar’s regular vaccination activities. UNICEF and WHO will also cooperate closely with the Ministry of Health to support vaccination activities.
At the meeting hall of the Ministry of Health on 23 August, Deputy Minister Dr Aye Tun, Director-General of the Public Health Department and officials from the central vaccination project mutually discussed with the GAVI-The Vaccine Alliance, WHO and UNICEF officials, regarding the issues to cooperate in the future for Myanmar’s routine expansion of vaccination activities and Covid-19 vaccination activities, and collaborative solutions to the needs that may be encountered. — MNA
