MoHT minister inspects hotels, tourism buildings for promotion of Chinese tours

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Maung Maung Ohn made an inspection tour of construction and upgraded works of hotels and tourism-related buildings in Yangon yesterday.
During the inspection tour, the Union Minister inspected the former Myanmar Shopping Mall, a three-story building on Sule Pagoda road owned by the ministry under renovation for a long-term lease.
The Union Minister also inspected the Myanmar Tourism Bank, Myanmar Tourism Federation office, and the operation of the Yangon Region branch of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.
Afterwards, the Union Minister visited the HAGL Myanmar Center Project by Hoang Anh Gia Lai Myanmar Co., Ltd, which leases state-owned land under the B.O.T system and the Melia Hotel that is included in the project.
The project covers an area of 18.132 acres and includes international standard hotels and commercial buildings on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road, Yangon.
During the meeting with the Myanmar-China Tourism Promotion Committee members, he said the State Administration Council had reopened hotels in the whole country following the COVID-19 guidelines. He urged the attendees to discuss possible ways to promote Chinese tours according to the COVID-19 regulations, as Chinese tourists will be able to yield income for the country and local employment opportunities.
The meeting discussed preparation plans to facilitate the smooth flow of Chinese tourists in each sector. The Union Minister coordinated the meeting.—MNA
