MoHT Union minister tours Kalaw, Nyaungshwe, Inlay lake in Shan State

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung toured Kalaw, Nyaungshwe, and Inlay in Shan State yesterday.
During the tour, the Union Minister met with Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Aung Kyi Win, department officials, the Chairman and members of the Kalaw Destination Management and the Chairman and members of the Hoteliers Association (Kalaw Zone) and hoteliers at Pine Hill Resort in Kalaw.
At the meeting, he said Kalaw can be said a tourist city with its beautiful scenery, forests and mountains, that attracts both domestic and foreign tourists. In developing Kalaw as a tourist city, it is necessary to implement in line with the facts of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) that are suitable with the region, he said.
He urged the authority, private and the local people to work together for the socio-economic development of the region as tourism affects all walks of life, adding that the Government also pays special attention to the hotel and industry, and it is necessary to balance Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the hotel business.
He also gave a presentation on City Tourism Development, clarifying the research and suggestions on the impact of tourism in the cities conducted by the World Tourism Organization. He also clarified the activities that can attract travellers to mountain resorts, management of mountain resorts and three main goals to be followed for mountaineering tourism.
During his tour to Nyaungshwe and Inlay Lake, the Union Minister visited the Information Counter opened by the Ministry and the preparation of the Virtual Reality Tour Exhibition in Nyaungshwe, the training of Enchanting Myanmar Health and Safety Protocol (HSP), preparations for the travellers at Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, and met with relevant officials and hoteliers at Aureum Palace Hotel. — MNA
