Union Minister for Labour Dr Pwint San attends the 27th ASEAN Labour Ministers’ Meeting (ALMM) and 12th ASEAN Plus Three Labour Ministers Meeting (ALMM+3) in Manila on 28 and 29 October.

Union Minister for Labour Dr Pwint San attended the 27th ASEAN Labour Ministers’ Meeting (ALMM) and 12th ASEAN Plus Three Labour Ministers Meeting (ALMM+3) hosted by the Department of Labour and Employment of the Philippines in Manila from 28 to 29 October.
During the 27th ALMM held under the topic of “Together as One: Reshaping the World of Work the ASEAN Way Towards Digitalized, Inclusive and Sustainable Recovery and Growth”, the Union Minister said the technological inventions that are not conformity with the requirements of future job opportunities have impacts on the employment of the labourers. It should adopt the skills properly and create new jobs for the ASEAN workers to be able to work in the coming decade as a result of technological improvement.
He then talked about the reviewing of regional employment urgently for instantly shutting down of workplaces, policy changes, reducing wages and job losses due to COVID-19 and preparations for the future, improvement of labourers’ skills, learning opportunities for new skills to meet the labour demand in digital economic, insurance for occupational safety and health, new normal lifestyle in post-COVID-19 and proper achievements through the cooperation of ASEAN governments, employees and employers, exploring the essence of ASEAN Community under three pillars of ASEAN and ASEAN unity for future.
The Union minister highlighted the concerted efforts in unison of the ASEAN along with its growth and sustainable job opportunities using digital inclusive rehabilitation and development.
The joint statements of 27th ALMM and 12th ALMM+3 will be released, it is learnt. — MNA
