MoNREC Union Minister makes inspection tours in Ayeyawady Region

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi accompanied by officials met the chief minister and the region natural resources minister at the Ayeyawady Region government office in Pathein Township of Ayeyawady Region yesterday morning.
The meeting focused on the improvement of forest coverage, conservation of forest reserve, protection of mangrove ecosystem and biodiversity, the continuation of the establishment of tree-planting in forests and along roads and streets and firewood plantations as well as environmental conservation.
The Union minister continued inspection tours to a 350-acre commercial ironwood plantation in the Thalakkhwar forest reserve, heard reports and gave necessary instructions on thriving of plantations. In addition, he viewed round the plantation.
Afterwards, the Union minister met officers and staff from the Department of Environmental Conservation. The Union minister called on officials concerned to conduct human resources development programme. He urged attendees to adhere to employee ethics, law and bylaws for achieving longterm missions and visions of the ministry. — MNA
