p11 1

Seintalone mango is in season at present, and the domestic market saw abundant supply from Monywa Township.
Shwebo, Budalin and Kani townships have been supplying the Seintalone mango to the Monywa’s market since early May, fetching a good price at the beginning of the season. They are delivered to Yangon, Mandalay and PyinOoLwin areas from Monywa’s market.
Myanmar primarily grows mango in Bago, Sagaing, Mandalay, Kyaukse, Sintgaing areas and Shan State. Additionally, Shwehintha, Myakyauk, Padamyar Ngamauk, Yinkwe, Seincho and Machitsu varieties are also found in the country.
Shwebo, Kanbalu and Budalin townships are the main producing areas of Seintalone.
Of about 200 mango varieties that originated in Myanmar, Seintalone, Shwehintha, Padamyar Ngamauk, Yinkwe, and Machitsu varieties are primarily grown. The foreign market prefers Seintalone varieties. Ayeyawady Region belongs to the largest mango plantation area, with about 46,000 acres. Bago Region is the second largest producer, with 43,000 acres, and Mandalay has 29,000 acres of mango. There are over 24,000 acres in Kayin State, over 20,400 acres in Shan State and over 20,000 acres in Sagaing Region, according to the association. — NN/EM
