More than 1,500 acres of onion cultivated in Chin State

More than 1,500 acres of onion has been grown in Chin State, said the Director of Chin State Agriculture Department.
“Chin State is targeted to grow over 1,100 acres of onion and over 1,300 acres of garlic this growing season. As of today, about 693 acres of onion and 836 acres of garlic have been cultivated, which is covered over 62 per cent of the projected acres,” said U Aung Myo Oo, Director of the Chin State Agriculture Department.
This year, authorities are targeted to grow 2,459 acres of onion in Haka, Falam and Matupi districts in Chin State. As of today, about 693 acres of onion and 836 acres of garlic are grown.
The department cultivated about 107 acres of onion and 200 acres of garlic in Haka district, 495 acres of onion and 516 acres of garlic in Falam district and 91 acres of onion and 120 acres of garlic in Matupi district. In the 2021-2022FY, Chin State aims to grow about 5,025 acres of chilli crop. So far, about 4,379 acres of chilli have been cultivated, which is covered over 87 per cent of the projected acres, according to the Director of Chin State Agriculture Department. — Lu Lay/GNLM
