MoSWRR discusses national strategic plan for youth policy (2020-2024) and establishment of Myanmar youth committee

MoSWRR Union Minister Dr Thet Thet Khine chairs the coordination meeting on 10 March 2021.

The Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement held the coordination meeting on National Strategic Plan for Youth Policy (2020-2024) and establishment of the Myanmar Youth Committee yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw.

The meeting was attended by Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine, Deputy Minister U Aung Tun Khine, the Permanent Secretary, the Director-General, Deputy Directors-General and officials. At the meeting, the Union Minister said young people are the country’s future as children are for the families and it is such an honour for her ministry to take responsibility for youth affairs. She called on the discussion of implementation programmes for the National Strategic Plan for Youth Policy (2020-2024) which have been published and further programmes on forming a youth committee in Nay Pyi Taw Council, states and regions and townships and districts.

The Deputy Minister said it is not possible to stop the activities for youth development and his ministry is in charge of providing services for children, youth, women, people with disability and elders, adding that cooperation will be continued with relevant ministries and organizations.

The Director-General and the Deputy Director-General for Social Welfare Department discussed Myanmar’s youth policy, the development of the strategic plan for youth policy (2020-2024) and proposals for reforming the Myanmar Youth Committee.

In the afternoon, the Deputy Minister and party inspected the Department of Social Welfare, Disaster Management Department, Rehabilitation Department and the Emergency Management Centre and greeted the staff.—MNA
