MoSWRR Union Minister meets IOM Chief of Mission

Union Minister Dr Thet Thet Khine of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement met Mr Dragan Aleksoski, Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration-IOM at the ministry’s meeting hall on 9 September.
Both parties discussed cooperation efforts and the progress of the Memorandum of Understanding-MOU signing negotiation with the Department of Disaster Management.
The IOM discussed matters related to humanitarian assistance to internally displaced persons-IDPs and the Union minister re-discussed the support and assistance to IDPs from Rakhine, Chin, Kayah and Shan (South) States and the Magway Region, the government’s plan for the repatriation of IDPs from Rakhine State and the project activities for Rakhine State development by signing an MOU with India.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister U Aung Tun Khine, the permanent secretary and directors-general from respective departments. —MNA
